White Corn Meal sold under the Aunt Jemima brand and packaged in a paper bag with a recall

Recalled by Quaker Foods and Snacks North America · Chicago, IL, United States

Class II — Moderate risk. May cause temporary or reversible harm; serious harm unlikely.

Why it was recalled

Some Aunt Jemima and Quaker brand Self-Rising Corn Meal Mix, Buttermilk Self-Rising Corn Meal Mix, Corn Meal, and Quick Grits have levels of aflatoxin above the legal limit.

Some of these cause harm only with repeated exposure (lead in spices, for example), others act within hours (histamine poisoning from spoiled fish). All chemical contamination recalls.

Check the codes, then return or discard. Class II means eating it may cause temporary or reversible health problems. If your package matches the recalled codes, do not eat it - return it to the store or throw it away. FDA lists this recall as terminated: the company has finished removing the product, so it should no longer be on shelves - but it can still be in a freezer or pantry.
