Food Recall Check

Privacy policy

Short version: this site has no accounts, no sign-ups, no cookies of its own, no analytics and no advertising. The only records are ordinary web-server logs and an anonymous tally of search terms.

Effective 5 October 2026.

Who is responsible

This site is an independent, privately operated project. Privacy questions: see the contact page.

What is recorded, and why

  • Server logs Like every website, the web server records each request: the address requested, the time, your IP address and browser identifier. The logs are used to keep the site running and to detect abuse, and are rotated and deleted automatically.
  • Searches When you search for a food, the term is part of the page address and so appears in the server log. Separately a plain tally per search term is kept - the term, how many recalls it matched and how many times it was searched - with no IP address, browser or time beyond the date, so that terms which keep finding nothing can be improved. Nothing in it identifies a person.

What we do not do

  • No cookies of our own, and no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. The content-delivery network (Cloudflare) may set a purely technical cookie to protect against automated abuse.
  • No accounts, no email collection, no selling or sharing of any data.

Who else sees requests

Traffic passes through Cloudflare, which sees requests in transit in order to serve and protect the site. The recall data itself is public FDA data and contains nothing about you.

Changes

If this policy changes - for example if email alerts are added - the new version will be posted here with a new effective date before anything new is collected.
