Frozen raw tuna loins packed in vacuum packages weighing between 5 recall

Recalled by Northern Fisheries Ltd. · Little Compton, RI, United States

Class II — Moderate risk. May cause temporary or reversible harm; serious harm unlikely.

Why it was recalled

Northern Fisheries Ltd. was notified by two of their customers that they received several consumer complaints from consumers who experienced symptoms of scombroid (histamine) poisoning after consuming tuna steaks distributed by Northern Fisheries Ltd.

Some of these cause harm only with repeated exposure (lead in spices, for example), others act within hours (histamine poisoning from spoiled fish). All chemical contamination recalls.

If your package matches the recalled codes, do not eat it - return it to the store or throw it away. FDA lists this recall as terminated: the company has finished removing the product, so it should no longer be on shelves - but it can still be in a freezer or pantry.
