Why it was recalled
The supplier received flour from General Mills that was contaminated with E. Coli O121. This flour was used to manufacture flour "breader" blends at Newly Weds Foods. Recall started on 7/7/16.
Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (such as O157:H7) can cause severe illness and kidney failure.
The most serious food recalls: a contaminated product can cause outbreaks, hospitalisations and deaths, especially for pregnant people, young children, older adults and anyone with a weakened immune system. All bacteria & viruses recalls.
What was recalled
Bulk packaged flour based "breader" packaged in 25, 35, and 50 lb. bags.
Do not eat it. Class I means FDA judged there is a reasonable probability of serious illness or death. If the brand, size and lot or date code on your package match, throw the product away or return it to the store for a refund, and clean any surface or container it touched. If anyone has eaten it and feels unwell, contact a doctor and mention the recall. FDA lists this recall as terminated: the company has finished removing the product, so it should no longer be on shelves - but it can still be in a freezer or pantry.
