Why it was recalled

CA Dept. of Public Health collected random samples of Red Vines Black Licorice and found elevated levels of lead in the product.

Some of these cause harm only with repeated exposure (lead in spices, for example), others act within hours (histamine poisoning from spoiled fish). All chemical contamination recalls.
