Shiitake-Ya brand Dried Shiitake mushroom slices recall

Recalled by LA Link Corporation · Cerritos, CA, United States

Class III — Low risk. Unlikely to cause harm, but violates FDA regulations.

Why it was recalled

Shiitake-Ya Gourmet Shiitake slices are being recalled because FDA test analysis showed presence of pesticide and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon residues: 0.208 ppm carbendazim, 0.072 ppm Fluoranthene and 0.092 ppm Pyrene. There are no tolerances for any of these pesticide residues.

Some of these cause harm only with repeated exposure (lead in spices, for example), others act within hours (histamine poisoning from spoiled fish). All chemical contamination recalls.

Low risk, but check. Class III means the product is unlikely to make anyone ill but breaks an FDA rule, often a labeling one. If your package matches, the store will normally refund it. FDA lists this recall as terminated: the company has finished removing the product, so it should no longer be on shelves - but it can still be in a freezer or pantry.
