Peanut Butter Bars Original recall
Recalled by Jer's Chocolates · Solana Beach, CA, United States
Class I — High risk. Reasonable probability of serious harm or death.
Why it was recalled
A voluntary limited recall has been initiated by Jer's Chocolates of some of its Gourmet Peanut Butter Bars and Gourmet Jer's Squares produced from July 9, 2012 to September 24, 2012 in response to Sunland, Inc.'s voluntary recall of nut butter products because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Salmonella is the most common cause of food recalls for bacteria, often in eggs, produce, nuts and spices.
The most serious food recalls: a contaminated product can cause outbreaks, hospitalisations and deaths, especially for pregnant people, young children, older adults and anyone with a weakened immune system. All bacteria & viruses recalls.

Do not eat it. Class I means FDA judged there is a reasonable probability of serious illness or death. If the brand, size and lot or date code on your package match, throw the product away or return it to the store for a refund, and clean any surface or container it touched. If anyone has eaten it and feels unwell, contact a doctor and mention the recall. FDA lists this recall as terminated: the company has finished removing the product, so it should no longer be on shelves - but it can still be in a freezer or pantry.
