Asian Pears recall

Recalled by Yang Wu International Inc · Vernon, CA, United States

Class II — Moderate risk. May cause temporary or reversible harm; serious harm unlikely.

Why it was recalled

California Department of Pesticide Regulation sampled Asian Pears and found the pesticide Phorate (NTE) at levels of 0.055 ppm, which was determined to be a health hazard to consumers.

Some of these cause harm only with repeated exposure (lead in spices, for example), others act within hours (histamine poisoning from spoiled fish). All chemical contamination recalls.

If your package matches the recalled codes, do not eat it - return it to the store or throw it away. FDA lists this recall as terminated: the company has finished removing the product, so it should no longer be on shelves - but it can still be in a freezer or pantry.
