Dark Chocolate with Cranberry recall

Recalled by Willit House Chocolate Co · North Pole, AK, United States

Class II — Moderate risk. May cause temporary or reversible harm; serious harm unlikely.

Why it was recalled

Undeclared soy lecithin. Dark Chocolate with Cranberry, Roasted Nuts & Sea Salt contains soy lecithin but label does not declare soy.

Undeclared allergen: Soy

For someone with a food allergy the label is the only protection. An undeclared allergen can trigger a severe reaction even in a trace amount, which is why most of these recalls are Class I. All undeclared allergens recalls.

What was recalled

Quantity: 318 bars

Lot codes, dates and UPCs

A recall covers only these codes. Compare them with the lot number, best-by date or UPC printed on your package.

codes: C2215F, C2915F, D0215F, D0315F, D2815F, D3115F, E0415F. All have best by date of 05/31/16. The code C2215F breakdown as: The first letter is the month of manufacturing (A=April, B=May, C=June, etc). The first and second number are the dates of manufacture. The third and fourth number are the year of manufacture. The last letter is the location of manufacture.

Where it was sold

Alaska

FDA's distribution note: distributed in Alaska only.

Check the codes, then return or discard. Class II means eating it may cause temporary or reversible health problems. If your package matches the recalled codes, do not eat it - return it to the store or throw it away. The risk from an undeclared allergen is to people allergic to soy; for anyone else the product is generally not a safety concern. FDA lists this recall as terminated: the company has finished removing the product, so it should no longer be on shelves - but it can still be in a freezer or pantry.
