Maesri Brand Shrimp Powder recall

Recalled by Eastland Food Corporation · Jessup, MD, United States

Class II — Moderate risk. May cause temporary or reversible harm; serious harm unlikely.

Why it was recalled

The New York Department of Agriculture and Markets notified Eastland Food Corp. that they analyzed a sample of the shrimp powder and determined that the product contained FD&C Yellow #6, but the label failed to declare its presence. Yellow #6 can cause an allergic reaction for a small population of individuals.

A label that does not match the product can hide an ingredient someone must avoid, or show a wrong use-by date. All labeling errors recalls.

Where it was sold

Nationwide.

FDA's distribution note: The shrimp powder is manufactured in Thailand and imported to the United States by Eastland. Eastland then distributes the shrimp powder nationwide to retail stores.

Check the codes, then return or discard. Class II means eating it may cause temporary or reversible health problems. If your package matches the recalled codes, do not eat it - return it to the store or throw it away. FDA lists this recall as terminated: the company has finished removing the product, so it should no longer be on shelves - but it can still be in a freezer or pantry.
